MESSAGE FOR PEOPLE TODAY FROM THE BOOK OF ISAIAH

Church: Sardis                                           Lesson 29 of 39                                  Theme: Holy Spirit

Background Information:

ü  We asked in the book of 1 Kings, “How can the creation know how to accept the Holy Spirit?

ü  In Esther, we were awakened to learn how the world will try to confuse the message of Jesus’ sacrifice by making laws that will satisfy the flesh.

Statement of Faith to Say Amen to for the Book of Isaiah:

I can be a witness who listens to the Spirit of the Lord (Holy Spirit) and not the Jezebel spirit that loves to change the laws and times to tolerate sin.

Essential Question:

Can I be a witness who will be eager to respond to the call of the Lord with a Holy Spirit?

Book of Isaiah

Have students read pages 144-149 in The Pattern of Sound Teaching.

After students read the information ask them, "What do you want to talk about?"

Remember the Issue:

Living a life that listens to the word of the Lord will bear witness to having a spirit like Isaiah that shares God’s spiritual gift of a new spirit with others. Isaiah, who was the son of Amos (Amos bore good fruit), accepted God’s spiritual gift of a new heart. When the Lord asked Isaiah who would like to respond to the call of the Lord, Isaiah was like a schoolboy who knows the right answer to a question, yelling, “Pick me, pick me!” Isaiah had a spirit that was eager to witness about the justice of God while Jezebel had a spirit of changing the laws to tolerate sin. The Lord told Isaiah to go out and make people's hearts heavy. This is a burden to bear witness with love to people who are changing the laws to tolerate sin. By putting on the armor of God, we can build an internal temple on the foundation of faith that the church of Laodicea formed on The Rock of Faith. We need to remember God’s armor includes a defense of the (5) Breastplate of Righteousness. In Isaiah 59:17, we learn how Isaiah suited up with righteousness as a breastplate and a helmet of salvation “and then he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing and was clad with zeal as a cloak.” When we are fighting with an Isaiah spirit, we are to put on all of our uniform. We should use this to stay in control of our mind, and to bear an inner witness to the world about the spiritual gift of bearing the fruits of the spirit that God offers for faith:

1)     First Woe - The Spirit of the Lord wants us to bear witness with an Isaiah spirit against anyone in the world who amends the laws of the flesh so they can get rich.

2)     Second Woe - The Spirit of the Lord wants us to bear witness with an Isaiah spirit against anyone who amends the laws of the flesh to attribute alcohol or drug addiction.

3)     Third Woe - The Spirit of the Lord wants us to bear witness with an Isaiah spirit against anyone in the world who is parading their sin as a narcissist who has emotional feelings against people who do not tolerate their sin. These are people who are proud of their sins, and they will take extreme measures against anyone who does not tolerate the sin that they are proud as a peacock about. They will puff out their chest with extreme passion to change the laws of the flesh to accept their sin. These people are driven by a passion to make what is unlawful, lawful. They will try to get entire nations to accept sin by introducing it slowly by fading the concept in gradual stages. They will take a rope and put their sin in a cart and continue to cart it around gradually over time as if they are in a parade.

4)     Fourth Woe - The Spirit of the Lord wants us to bear witness with an Isaiah spirit against anyone in the world who is calling good evil and evil good. When a person in a family, government, church, school, etc. confuses evil for good, it affects other people because of their authority. They teach people to tolerate and accept sin. These are the people who can turn a whole community to accept sin through slowly fading the sin.

5)     Fifth woe - The Spirit of the Lord wants us to bear witness with an Isaiah spirit against anyone in the world who disagrees with people who are experts in an area. Some people think they know everything, and they will not be able to listen to wise advice.

6)     Sixth woe – The Spirit of the Lord wants us to bear witness with an Isaiah spirit against anyone in the world who is well-established and respected who drinks wine and make it look as if alcohol is needed to have a happy spirit. They will work hard to seem like they are satisfied because they want the people who are listening to the Holy Spirit to stop listening to the Holy Spirit. They will even amend the laws to continue to satisfy the flesh, which would make them stronger and mightier than the people who are satisfying the spirit.

7)     Seventh woe - The Spirit of the Lord wants us to bear witness with an Isaiah spirit to people by responding to the call of the Holy Spirit. The prophet Isaiah had a seventh woe. This woe was for him. Isaiah was standing before the Holy One.

The seventh woe was for Isaiah because of his unclean lips, and how he dwells among people with unclean lips. Then one of the seraphim flew to Isaiah having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken off the altar: He touched Isaiah’s lips and took his sin away. The prophet Isaiah discussed these previous six woes that will affect people who are busy satisfying the flesh because they do not remember what God has done for them. These people not only cause woe in their own lives, but they are also destroying their families and becoming a burden on the government. Two of the six woes involve alcohol. When people deny the Holy Spirit to satisfy the flesh, they are just enlarging hell to get bigger and bigger as it is stated in Isaiah 5:14.

Remember the Truth Jesus Brought:

As it is written in Isaiah 43:26, “Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou mayest be justified.” Isaiah was eager to be chosen by the Lord, and he was never off guard to answer his calling. We are to respond to the calling of the Holy Spirit, so we can save people from hell.

Remember the Rock God Established:

People were only weighed in Babylon, but our heart will be measured and weighed by the spirit.

Activity:

The activity directions are located in Appendix 3.

Students will play a game called Sin.

Conclusion:

When the Holy Spirit calls us, we need to respond to the calling to help protect the family of God.

Next Lesson:

In the next lesson, God's promise is how He gives us a way to escape what we can’t endure when we remember how the enemy will try to get us to satisfy the flesh. Satisfying the flesh will stop us from living by the spirit. When someone lives by the spirit, they will teach the next generation. The prophet Joel tells people to pass down the message to the fourth generation because the day of the Lord will be a day like nothing that has ever happened before. A righteous behavior that will bear good fruit is to

teach the next generation how to call on the Holy Spirit.
